In 2017 the Western Cape Education Department, officially launched the Wellington School of Skills ,on the campus of the former Wellington Youth Care Centre.
It is not just a name but a new school with a dedication and focus to provide an environment conductive to learning for learners with learning barriers.
The school is utilizing an adaptation of the NCS curriculum, which allows learners to excel at their own pace as well as to exceed in the more practical subjects which will equip the learner to better enter the labor market
We currently offer Welding, Upholstery, Hairdressing, Food technology, Office Administration, Agriculture and Motor Mechanics.
It is our mission to give all learners with learning disabilities access to learning,to form many partnerships with various industries and to successfully link them to the workplace.
It is further our mission to turn many insecure young people with disabilities into confident semi skilled workers
Last but not the least, we want to impact the drug trade and crime stats in Wellington , as we open the doors of learning and keep our children away from drug lords and crime.
